The Configuration Management Lead serves as the program authority for configuration identification, configuration status accounting, baseline integrity, and change management throughout the system life-cycle. This role partners with engineering, software development, cybersecurity, logistics, quality, program management, and government stakeholders to ensure all configuration-controlled items remain accurately documented, traceable, and compliant with contractual and technical requirements.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting large-scale technical environments involving space systems, ground infrastructure, mission operations, communications networks, cloud environments, or enterprise information technology capabilities.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain technical, functional, product, software, hardware, and documentation baselines throughout the system development life-cycle.
  • Manage configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration verification and audit activities in accordance with program and contractual requirements.
  • Administer the Configuration Control Board (CCB), including coordinating agenda development, documenting decisions, tracking actions, and ensuring approved changes are properly implemented.
  • Review, evaluate, and process Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Deviation (RFDs), Requests for Waiver (RFWs), and other configuration change requests.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering, software development, cybersecurity, logistics, quality assurance, and program management teams to assess the technical, operational, schedule, and cost impacts of proposed changes.
  • Maintain complete configuration records, version histories, release documentation, and traceability between requirements, design artifacts, software builds, hardware configurations, and deployed systems.
  • Support software and hardware release management activities, ensuring approved configurations are accurately documented, tested, and transitioned into operational environments.
  • Conduct Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), and internal configuration compliance assessments.
  • Ensure consistency between approved technical baselines, engineering documentation, requirements, interface specifications, software repositories, and deployment environments.
  • Develop and maintain configuration status reports, baseline metrics, audit findings, and executive dashboards supporting program leadership and customer reporting.
  • Support proposal efforts, contract modifications, technical refresh activities, and system modernization initiatives by maintaining configuration integrity throughout program changes.
  • Identify configuration risks, process deficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement while implementing corrective actions and CM best practices.
  • Coordinate with government configuration management organizations and customer representatives to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements.
